Do you want to bring that natural and spectacular wood fired look back to your pottery? Learn the skill of converting an old electric kiln into a FAST FIRE wood kiln in your own backyard!
You will be taught what it takes from leveling the ground to the exact construction of the kiln. Within 3 days you will have learned how to build, load and fire a wood kiln...AND you will be able to glaze, load and unload your own pieces.
This workshop is for everyone from beginners to advanced ceramicists!

Ceramics Professor Dorian Beaulieu
Dorian is from Duluth, MN and started the ceramics program at Lake Superior College in 1994 which is still going strong and has over 200 students per semester. His energetic and student focused teaching is engaging and you will come away from this workshop with a new energy, ready to conquer the art of pottery!

Friday 9 am - Kiln building, glazing and loading
Saturday 7 am - Kiln Firing to Cone 7-8 (8-10 hours - lunch at noon and hot coco and snacks will be provided)
Sunday 4 pm - Kiln unloading
(times are subject to change and if bad weather comes upon us we may have to re-schedule)
What to bring:
- Warm clothing as we will be outside (you will be able to warm up in the house/garage)
- Bring 3-4 unglazed bisque pieces (size to not exceed 5" x 5" x 5") to be fired during the workshop (depending on attendance numbers we may not be able to fire all your pieces in the initial firing and they will be fired at a later date)
- Bisque will also be available on location for purchase
